A Night To Remember

Many memories were made at the 11th anniversary of the LADAS – the Laundry and Drycleaning Awards – as the industry gathered at The Belfry Hotel & Resort to reward excellence in laundry skills and achievements, our drycleaners and textile care expertise.

Tina Gleed, publisher of Laundry & Cleaning Today, said: “It was fantastic to see a mix of familiar faces alongside many new ones, including those who won or were shortlisted for awards. Being able to get together and celebrate success is important in any industry, but in ours even more so. We’re spread out across Britain, in large and small operations where everyone is so busy for much of the year.”

And she’s right. Not only on the importance of catching up with former colleagues and suppliers of equipment and services like engineering, but that this year’s event saw many younger people at the tables – something we know our industry stalwarts will applaud. It’s a sign of success, as is the fact that the LADAS were held at The Belfry for the first time, after previous events in recent years at Mercedes-Benz World and Brighton’s The Grand. While it’s nice to move around and visit new places, the key driver for our move to this golfing icon was just how many people want to be involved! 2025’s awards saw 400 guests – up 20 per cent on the previous year – and a venue large enough to stage the event was needed.

Mark Gleed of MEG Events, who has organised the LADAs since they started in 2015, was obviously delighted (and not just because of the golf). He said: “If you’re going to have a headache over logistics, this at least is a good one to deal with. The sea of smiling faces at The Belfry made the hard work worthwhile.”

The first LADAS were held at Reading FC’s stadium, with 80 guests attending. While the fortunes of the club have not been so good in recent times, it’s a different story for the awards.

One of those first attendees was Jack Fowler, former publisher of LCT, whose words then resonate today : “I think the LADAS are a great idea, giving members of the industry something to aim for each year. It was a special occasion that brought together members of the industry, both old and new, which made it all the more enjoyable.”

Isn’t it great that our industry is always up for a night of sparkle, glamour and well-deserved applause? After all, our members spend much of their working lives – and often long days – bringing smiles to the faces of satisfied customers.

The 11th annual LADAS, held this year in The Masters Suite of The Belfry Hotel & Resort, saw many worthy recipients called to the stage as a host of awards were handed out. The winners, those who received highly commended accolades and all the shortlisted entries were cheered as their achievements were announced. None of this would be possible without our hugely valued sponsors. We are very grateful to them and the team of expert judges who spend many hours assessing entries and discussion before revealing the results of their deliberations to Laundry & Cleaning Today publisher Tina Gleed and MEG Events Ltd awards organiser Mark Gleed.

The evening began with a very bubbly drinks reception before the 400 guests – including potential winners and their supporters – sat down to an excellent three-course dinner, full of anticipation for the coming awards announcements. These would be overseen by master of ceremonies Ian Richards, who as past Captain Jester and chairman of The Comedians Golfing Society and long standing and active member of the Variety Club of Great Britain Golfing Society, must have felt instantly at home at The Belfry.

He introduced comedian and impressionist Danny Posthill, who was a finalist in Series nine of Britain’s Got Talent. No LADAS event would be complete without a charity raffle, and our final thanks goes to all those who donated some splendid prizes – so many that it took some time to hand them all over to delighted winners. But more importantly the raffle raised £5,361 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, bringing the charity donation total from the LADAS to over £43,000. We hope to see you all at the 2026 LADAS – keep an eye on Laundry & Cleaning Today in the coming months and make sure your people and business are represented.

A huge thank you to LADAs 2025 sponsors

A word from our headline sponsor…

The Vision Linens team is pleased to congratulate the winners of the 2025 LADAs. It was an honour to return as the headline sponsor in 2025 to celebrate the incredible work of the companies and individuals in our industry. As a premier supplier to UK laundries, we see the incredible hard work that goes on throughout the year to make hospitality, healthcare and institutional businesses function smoothly. It is important to us to support the recognition of this work and the teams and individuals that make this industry what it is. To be shortlisted for any of these prestigious awards is a testament to the dedication of the nominee. Our particular congratulations to Gina Goodall who we had the privilege of presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to. We look forward to continuing to work with our fantastic laundry partners throughout the year and into 2026.
