Despite Storm Ciaran threatening to disrupt the LADAs 2023, 350 industry colleagues turned up to the Grand Brighton Hotel to celebrate the cream of the crop at this year’s Awards event.

The Grand Brighton was the brand new venue for the 2023 Laundry and Drycleaning Awards – The LADAs!

And indeed, Brighton did rock on Thursday 2 November 2023. Partly because of Storm Ciaran’s arrival to the south coast town, but mainly due to the arrival of the textile care, laundry and drycleaning industry in their finest to celebrate talent in the industry today. 350 guests battled through the storm on their journey to the prestigious LADAs 2023. This number of guests meant it was the biggest event in the awards nine-year history.

The first waves of the day crashing onto Brighton seafront were those of radio waves, as event organiser Mark Gleed went live on air in an interview on Radio X with DJ Chris Moyles and his team on The Chris Moyles Show. The interview followed a discussion on Radio X about the LADAs back in February when MAG Laundry Equipment had tweeted the radio show. The tweet had led to Moyles, and the radio breakfast team researching the LADAs and talking live on air about the awards. Great news for raising the profile of the industry and the LADAs themselves. Gleed was invited back to continue the discussion. He said: “We were contacted the week of the LADAs by the Radio X researcher asking if we like to speak with the team live on air. It resulted in an interview lasting nearly 20 minutes where I was able to share with them about the industry and the different award categories that we celebrate at the LADAs. It was a great opportunity and a fun thing to do to kick start this special day for the industry.”

The LADAs 2023 was a huge success. Despite the industry golf day in the morning being cancelled due to Storm Ciaran, the LADAs ceremony in the evening was a wonderful evening of conversation, entertainment and of course, celebration.
