’Do not disturb’… When we made this 100 year old sign tamper-proof, three things happened in housekeeping … and guest satisfaction. All of them dramatic. Game changing, it could be said.
1/. 93%* of guests who chose, chose ‘Do not disturb’. [*from 000’s stays].
2/. Multiple times the no. of guests, engaged with and displayed their choice
3/ ‘Best reviews’ also multiplied, with guests loving a 100% assured choice
1/. 93% of guests choosing ‘Do not disturb’ with this sign!? Half this % would still be jaw-dropping. But ‘unique’., ’privacy preference’., ‘security’., ‘choice’., ‘innovative’., perhaps ‘novelty’., security., (there’s more). They all combined. ALSO, guests can see that with their door closed, sign is 100% inaccessible, meaning no mischievous guest (or child), can change their ‘choice made’.
2/ Multiple – Much greater numbers and %’s of guests, engaged with sign.
3/ Best reviews – Our testing was mostly in-house (due patenting and design protection considerations). In the first year of the deployment of this sign, we were nominated and won THE “Best guest reviews” [entire U.k. – Laterooms].
Upgraded, redesigned tamper-proof (world’s first). Quieter, aesthetically improved … guests (with door open), quietly communicates their choice to the housekeeper. With a spotlessly clean room, and more expensive tech than ever kept inside guest rooms, it is mostly ‘Do not disturb’.
SAVINGS? Immense. Time, workload, cleaning materials, utilities, and staffing costs through much greater efficiencies. Savings which enable housekeepers to meticulously clean those rooms, for those guests, who have chosen cleaning. Everyone therefore, happy.

First paper straw manufacturer in South East open for business
London, 14 November 2018: Paper Straws London Ltd is today starting production of its first batch of paper straws, the only paper straw manufacturer in the South East of the UK and one of only a handful in Europe. It is the only UK paper straw company to deliver its locally produced straws across wholesale, retail and consumer markets.
With the UK’s plastic straw ban coming in to effect next year, caterers, corporates and consumers are looking for alternatives to feed the continuing high demand for straws: the World Wide Fund for Nature has said that this year, the UK will use 8.5 billion plastic straws, many of which end up in the world’s oceans.
As most paper straws are currently produced in Asia, they still have a major environmental impact globally. Paper Straws London aims to be producing up to a million quality, environmentally friendly straws per week by the end of the year, with additional capacity in 2019. The company can can fulfill both wholesale and retail orders at competitive prices and deliver to consumers via its e-commerce site: https://paperstrawslondon.com/
Co-founder of Paper Straws London, Tim Clifton said: “To see our first batch of paper straws being produced using our new state of the art machine is a very exciting moment. We are a family run business and every element of our straws – from origin to application – has nature in mind. As a British manufacturer we can offer less supply chain risk, reduced delivery times, higher levels of quality control and greater levels of communication – greatly reducing environmental impact.
“The wholesale and retail market currently ordering straws from Asia have to commit to taking a container load with payment up front. With Paper Straws London they do not have to commit to such large orders and, with our faster delivery times, this will be helpful to businesses’ cashflow,” he continued.
The straws produced by Paper Straws London are fully biodegradable, compostable and recyclable. Paper, glues, inks and packaging are sourced exclusively from the UK and Europe and meet the most stringent European industry testing standards. The company uses wet food grade kraft paper designed to stay sturdy and strong for longevity in drinks.

Regenex has devised and developed new ways to lift stains and discolouration from commercial linen, maximising the life of every item. Results are proven by independent testing, including with the University of Leeds. The company consistently demonstrates a 75-80% success rate in treating items that would otherwise be condemned to landfill or rag.
Enlisting Regenex’s services is helping commercial laundries and hotel groups to lower their carbon footprint – and save many thousands of pounds on needless replacement linen. The company has processed 500 tonnes of linen so far and is now looking to expand its customer base. Regenex’s gentle, multi-bath cleaning system, using chemistry and technology, shares hot water at its site in Bradford, West Yorkshire, with other textile processes.
Treatment works on stains including fake tan, grease, oil, mildew, and concrete – restoring linen, including larger items such as costly duvets, to pristine condition. Ever-increasing numbers of customers are now transporting their heavily marked linen to Regenex for processing.
In addition to its cleaning service, Regenex can re-bleach and re-colour items – restoring original shades, including for hospitality items such as tablecloths and napkins, which fade but do not wear out.
